What happens when I arrive?
On arrival you will receive a warm welcome. We want you to feel at ease. We will respect and understand the need for personal privacy and we will always act with discretion. There will be an introduction and induction session. You will have an individual health assessment of your weight and statistics. You will be able to discuss any concerns and expectations you have for your course.
What will I do?
During your time with us you will be offered a stimulating, interesting, fun and supportive, programme depending on the length of your stay. There is a lot of work to do, things to learn and fun to be had. Most importantly you will meet new friends and be able to support each other.

There will be activities on and off the Trentham site and we have specifically allowed time for you to rest, relax and access additional therapies.
There will also be social and cultural opportunities and even time to go shopping or sightseeing.
Will I enjoy it?
It is entirely up to you. We will be very proactive during the course getting to know you and helping all of our course members to mix. We want you to be happy and feel supported. By building bonds with our staff and fellow course members you will build up your network of support. This will be a key element in helping you maintain your new routines and manage your wellbeing.
How fit do I need to be?
We have very carefully designed the programme so that all aspects of the course are designed to accommodate all levels of fitness. Prior to the course you will be requested to complete your assessment screening including a PAR-Q fitness form for us to assess your ability to participate. The more you do the fitter you will become. As any exercise you do must be sensible, we will encourage you to challenge yourself to improve but stress the importance of avoiding injury or inappropriate activity. The phrase we use is; ‘You do what you can’.
Can I do more than one course?
Yes. You are welcome to stay or return at any time. The only restriction is that you should not adhere to the 1200 calorie per day regime for more than 4 consecutive weeks. Assessment of your calorific intake will be monitored and advice will be given as to what is suitable for you.
What does a weekly timetable look like?
Each week the timetable has common elements. If you stay for successive weeks you will see subtle changes in the content of the programme to make it relevant for long term Members.

Through your evaluation we will constantly strive to further enhance our programme. Ensuring we continue to provide exactly what are members want.
How can I tell if I am succeeding?
During your stay with us there are two strands to assessing your progress.
You will be assessed at the start and end of the week which will give you your individual health markers. You will also be able to self-appraise your fitness by judging how much more you can do. These are quantifiable degrees of progress.
You will be able to keep a diary of the progress you make in terms of setting out what you hope to achieve by attending the Academy 4 Wellbeing. A crucial element of your journey will be the emotional strength you gain. By keeping a descriptive log you will chart your progress as you reach the goals you have set.
Do I have to do everything or can I choose?
Depending on your levels of fitness and motivation you may decide that the full programme is too much for you. You do not have to take part in all activities however it is greatly encouraged that you attend as many as you can to get the most out of your experience with us. If you feel the need to miss a session we do ask you to inform staff in advance so that the groups do not have to wait unnecessarily.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to bring enough suitable clothing and footwear for the course. Please download the latest kit lists here: (LINK)
You will also need any medication and daily essentials.
